Man wanted in 1976 murder found living in woods

Wayne County deputies, marshals capture David Lee Edds.

A man was arrested Thursday in Wayne County in connection with a 41-year-old murder case in Texas, authorities said.

Wayne County deputies, a SWAT team and U.S. marshals found David Lee Edds, 61, living in a tent in a heavily wooded area off Strengthford Coley Road, WDAM reported. Marshals said Edds was carrying a knife, but surrendered without incident.

DNA evidence linked Edds to the May 11, 1976, stabbing death of Rene Anthony Guillotte, 28, in Harrison County, Texas. A cold case unit reviewed the files and uncovered new evidence that led to a search warrant, KPRC reported.
